Earl Grey Trophy

Earl Grey Trophy

Awarded for the most outstanding performance of a School Chorus in Grades 7 to Senior 4.

The Earl Grey Trophy was donated to the Winnipeg Music Festival in 1923. This trophy was originally awarded in an annual competition of winners in Public School Chorus classes.

Albert Henry George Grey, the fourth Earl, was born in St. James Palace, London, England in 1851. In 1904, he was appointed Governor General of Canada, proving to be one of Canada's most popular governors. His term of office was twice extended at the request of the Canadian Government. He left Canada in the autumn of 1911 and died in 1917.
